Chief Of Staff to Nigeria's President Abba Kyari dies after contracting Corona Virus
The Chief of Staff to Nigeria's President, Abba Kyari has died after contracting the corona virus infection. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity femi adesina confirming his death in statement on April the 18, stated the Chief of staff to the President had died on the 17th of April 2020 from the corona virus infection. He had further described the former chief staff as a national patriot, committed servant leader and loyalist to both the country and the presidency at large. He had Further offered his condolences to the family of the late chief of staff before Praying for Allah to grant him eternal rest.
Late Mallam Abba Kyari was born in Borno state and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Warwick in 1980, and also received a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Cambridge before being called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983 after attending the Nigerian Law School.
In 1990, Abba Kyari served as a Commissioner for Forestry and Animal Resources in Borno State and from 1990 to 1995, he was the secretary to the board of African International Bank Limited, a subsidiary of Bank of Credit and Commerce International. Abba Kyari was then made an executive director in charge of management services at the United Bank for Africa, before his later appointment as the chief executive officer.
In 2002, Kyari was appointed a board director of Unilever Nigeria, and later served on the board of Exxon Mobil Nigeria. And In August 2015, he was appointed Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari where he had served until his death.
Abba Kyari's death has thrown the country into a controversial state. While others believe the astute politician was a rare gem that will surely be missed, others more on social media platforms are happy and rejoicing over the death of the former principle officer in the Buhari's administration.
