Inarguably, the Corona Virus disease has changed the way we see the world today, and while most persons still hold believes in seeing an end to the global pandemic, others believe that the virus is one that has inevitably come to stay, and so any action taken, must be in the creed of containing the virus and ensuring that man is left in security from the ravaging disease.

Over the days and months before, the Covid 19 pandemic has sparked rising tensions in most cities across the globe birthing from it the most unanswerable question of the century--
"Can the world remain safe with the Novel corona virus living among it?" and while several enthusiasts and public opinionist scuffle and bustle to draw inestimable stands and throw inexhaustible answers to the daring question, others have allowed themselves the room to consider a far more pressing question of much concern, which as they believe, for now is the only question that matters. And it goes thus
"With worrisome numbers showing daily increase in Covid 19 cases across the world and in Nigeria at large, Is it really safe to reopen our schools?"

Well, well. let's hear the erudite writer and legal scion Kumam Isemin air his views on this one. stay with us.........

......"Are you really concerned about our academic development or about the academic calendar"_kunam Isemin
In a situation where our patience seems no longer stretchable, and we are made to choose between two necessary evils; being off from school or putting the government in a tight corners to reopen schools, the ideal approach will be to juxtapose, compare and contrast the negative gravity of the aftermath of the different options.
Publilius Syrus opines that anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm. But then I ask, how about those who couldn't even hold the helm when the sea was calm?. With this even the dead man can perceive the gross fatality that lies in wait for such, when the torrent comes. This is exactly the unfortunate state of our country.

The problem that Nigeria has is that most times, she waits for the "rapid and impetuous river to swell and get enraged, overwhelming the plains, subverting the trees and the houses, forcing away the earth from one place to another(Machiavelli, The Prince) before she starts building her fences and banks and canals to cushion the effect. And since such is built in a state of desperation and panic, its likely not to have the optimal value to stand the test of time.

Taking the corona virus pandemic as the case study, had it been it plagued only Nigeria or say Africa or international flights were allowed, our leaders would have flown out for medical services, but now they are treated in our local hospitals and they are recovering. Right now, we are experiencing the novel school on radio sponsored by the Akwaibom state government, we have seen that isolation centres and laboratories have been built in a twinkle of an eye and we have also seen how the avaricious ones have seized the chance to defraud the desperate and panicking government.

Adhering to Covid 19 protocols

  • Now, had all these resources been put to use before now, wouldn't the blow of the virus been less painful? As regards the educational system in the period of this pandemic, since we didn't already have a well developed functional structure, let us not be forced to go back to the well developed dysfunctional one. We know that it is a painful decision, but we can't help. We know that an efficient and efficacious online schooling system can't be put up now, we had already moved on with life.

We know that you are really concerned about our education, but we wish you had shown this before now. Or perhaps, we should pause and ask, are you really concerned about our academic development or about the academic calendar.

Growing concerns from people on the reopening of schools
Our health is paramount, because we need it to survive in the crowdy examination (WASSCE) hall, we need it to strive in the cramped up hostels, we need our health, to survive in our sturfy lecture halls if we are forced to go back to school. So please, dearest government, focus all your energy in subduing the virus, you've got our back, because if we are forced back to school now, the effect will be more than the ink can write or the mouth can tell.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!!
