JUUC "The Social Talk Series" THE GIRL CHILD: THE HERITAGE OF EVERY SOCIETY

By Mary Boniface

For the remaining good men, nothing more is left to do than finding solution to the immemorial problem of Gender Inequality. Even as the society advances in age, the vision for a change in this prospect is seemingly invisible. Unavoidably, The boy Child of our society is greeted with more carefulness than others, and this naturally begs the question; What Happens to the Girl Child?
The Crying Girl Child

As the days go by, we watch in great depression some societies denying the girl child their human rights and other basic needs. Most times, the girl child is subject to high risk of practical sexual exploits, discrimination and other harmful and degrading practices.
The truth still remains that the girl child is the pride and heritage of every family, society, state, nation, and even the world at large. Have you even imagined how the world would be if there were only male counterparts? Do you think that things would have been normal? A lot would have been lacking, right?
One thing every one must always have in mind is that the girl child is the mother of the world. She is the one that will have to go through the painful journey of nine months. It is a thing of grieve when the girl child is denied education, because, there very numerous benefits that could be derived from investing in the girl child education that will extend to the society at large.
Educate The Girl Child

The first benefit is lower fertility fate. A schooled woman will not possibly bring down herself to the point of becoming a ‘baby-making factory’. She will have sense of family planning and other family needs that may need attention in future. Another benefit is a healthy family. Lack of money is not an excuse for being unhealthy. As a literate woman, she will have knowledge about balanced diet and how to make use of the limited resources available to make ends meet. Other benefits are poverty reduction, economic growth, and others too numerous to mention.

In as much as some governments have put in efforts in bringing an end to the discrimination of the girl child, individual members of the society should also help the situation; by stopping any form of abuse on the girl child. Remember, it all starts with the people.
This is an advanced century, we have to drop this archaic mentality about female children, because it is preposterous!  The girl child remains the pride and heritage of every society. I summit.
