Welcome to our Land

By Emmy Alex

On this frail and treachery grounds, we walk, priding ourselves in the hope of a future far reaching from the reality.
We garnish our eyes and voices, ready to herald the coming of greater governance. Yet, in these peril moments, We wait in lost hopes.
We cannot be saved by others, until we save ourselves. If the sun must shine, it must do so in the morning.
On this day, we make our choice. Speak against oppression, and the numerous plights rained on our numerous lives by a corrupt government, and the consequences be dammed.
On this vision, Emmy writes Welcome to our Land. Stay with us.
Land and Houses covered in Water

WELCOME TO OUR LAND

This land of ours is wrecked in lies.
The soil and the crops dieing in a filthy wrought.
And as we fade, the promise of a generation dies
The once glimmering sun now bade to redraw.

Welcome to our land
A land where we are blind to what is right
A land where everyone wants to be the high and mighty
With people worshipping at their feet

Here is our land
Where hunger terribly abounds
And anyone who tries to go beyond the bound
Is fated to be sent underground
It is a land where good mind work
But our sluggish ignorant leaders get paid

Welcome to our land
Where justice is no longer practiced
But now a business of buying and selling
And those who were meant to be our voice now makes noise

This is our land
where freedom of speech is part of the Constitution
But not our right in this generation
A land where the freedom of life
depends if we make it alive

Welcome to a land
Where the milk meant for the children are taken by the elders and those meant to be our leaders are now rulers .

Welcome to our land
Where we live as slaves
Even in our own homes
Held captive by our very own
A land where the government is always trying their best
But still we don't seem to be at rest

Here in our home
Lies pool of blood of the innocents
A land enchanted by the power of the guilty
A land where we spill our own blood to give life to our foes.

Welcome to our home
Blessed with many endowment
Only seen but never utilized
A land filled with milk and honey
But all we get is vinegar and cola
This is our home where greed has eaten in so deep.

This is a land
That needs to be cleansed
Because of the tears of thousands and the innocent lives that were killed
This is a land that needs to be atoned.

Welcome to our land
Herein lies our home
Herein lies our fatherland
In this land, we have found no peace.
