The Voice of the Pacesetters: The Freshmen Bootcamp, Reviews
The start of a new era can be intimidating, as well as intriguing. Gracing the well-discussed "uni life" can be complicated if you are not guided properly.
In a bid to guide the freshmen law class, the Justice Udo Udoma Chambers organised a four-day event for the freshmen, with the sole aim of introducing them to the legal atmosphere, and teaching them how to make the most of their stay in the faculty of law.
The event kickstarted on Wednesday, the 8th of February, 2023, with a visit to Star Attorneys Chambers by 10am. The day's activities concluded with a meet and greet for the freshmen by 4pm.
On Thursday, the 9th of February, 2023, the freshmen engaged in a thrilling battle of words, as they participated in a British Parliamentary Debate, where Iheanacho Joshua emerged the best speaker. A masters round commenced, where the leading advocates in the Chambers showed the freshmen how it was done.
On Friday, the 10th of February, the Chambers organised a career talk for the freshmen, where they learnt how to approach their studies, time management, and vital elements of their future careers as lawyers.
On Saturday, the bootcamp ended with music and vibes as the members of the Chambers relieved the stress of the entire weak with the freshmen in an epic picnic congress. Games were played, and the heads of the JUUC teams and sections were announced.
One of the freshmen, Chioma Amadi, had this to say:
My experience at the bootcamp has been so educating and thrilling. Our visit to the Star Attorneys Chambers opened my eyes to a lot of aspects of the legal profession. We learnt about junior and senior associates, and the environment was so beautiful. I'm so grateful for the experience.
Then, the parliamentary debate: I'm not one to speak in public but there was a day I spoke, and I actually did well! I was so proud of myself and I can say next time I'm called up to speak in public, I'll actually do great.
The career submit was also very nice. We learnt a lot of things like how to concentrate, how to be better students. And then, the picnic…it's just the best. I loved the way they ended everything. It wasn't just academics; we also had fun. We also had time to socialise. So, I'm very grateful to JUUC and the bootcamp was just perfect.

Another freshman, Samuel had this to say:
I'm really happy to be here. Everything they do is perfection. From even the rehearsals for the debate, everything went on smoothly. For those that participated in the competition, I'm sure they learnt a lot and they can do further.
Moving on to the meet and greet, the picnic; everything was a success. I'm happy to be here and I appreciate everyone that has been involved, from the Chairman BOT. You all have done well.

During his interview with the Editorial team, The Head of Practice, Declan Abiom, commented on his experience being part of the organisers of the Freshmen Bootcamp:
So far, it's been a value-packed week for the pacesetters and mostly, the freshmen. This is the third edition of the freshmen bootcamp, which is of course the traditional welcome. I call it the full pack for the freshmen, where we have a line up of activities from academics, social life, and career advancement.
Today is the last day- the Congress, which is more like a family meeting, to of course, relieve ourselves from the stress of the entire week. It's been beautiful and JUUC is actually the GOAT.
