Battle For the Crown Intensifies: JUUC Pacesetters Games Recap
Hearts pounded and ecstasy filled the minds of the members of the Justice Udo Udoma Chambers on the 3rd of June, 2023. On this day, the pacesetters, in their teams of four: Team Dignity, Team Dominic, Team Love and Team Kereti battled amongst themselves for the crown in the annual pacesetters games.
The event, spearheaded by the Directorate of Sports, kickstarted by 7am and was a combination of nine separate games, culminating into one winner.
The games began with a sack race featuring the beautiful Amazons of JUUC. Team Love emerged the champions, with Team Dignity emerging as the first runner up. The male pacesetters also grabbed the opportunity to show us what they had and again, Team Love emerged victorious, with Team Dignity emerging as the first runner up.
The games continued with the female pacesetters spearheading an egg and spoon race, a battle which culminated in Team Dignity emerging victorious and Team Dominic emerging as the first runner up. The Amazons proceeded to battle with wheels in the cycling session, with Team Dominic emerging victorious and Team Love emerging as the first runner up. The male pacesetters proceeded to battle with their wheels as well, with Team Kereti emerging victorious and Team Dignity emerging as the first runner up.
The speed of both the gents and ladies were tested as the pacesetters embarked on a hundred metres race, with Team Love and Team Dominic claiming the crown and emerging as the first runner up respectively for the females. Team Dominic claimed the crown for the males and Team Kereti emerged as the first runner up.

During this period, Firstlight approached pacesetter Isaac Samuel and interviewed him on his experiences during the games.
Firstlight: You are definitely beaming with smiles. So tell me, how has the games session been thus far?
To which he replied:
I'm enjoying every bit of the games. You know an opportunity to go outside and play games with fellow pacesetters is really beautiful.
So far I've participated in the eggs-in- spoon and it was something left me laughing a lot. I broke an egg.
I'm specially waiting for the football tournament and track races to start so I'll show off my skills. See you in the fields!!!

The pacesetters proceeded to battle with words in a scrabble competition, with Team Love emerging victorious and Team Dominic emerging as the first runner up. This was followed by a chess competition, where Team Dominic claimed the crown and Team Dignity emerged as the first runner up. The games ended with a football match, where Team Dominic claimed victory, with Team Love emerging the first runner up.
At the end of an intense games session, Team Dominic emerged as the winning team, with Team Love emerging as the runner up.
The Captain of the winning team, Miss Favour Madu, commented thus to Firstlight:
I was really elated when I got the news of our victory during the games. Though I was out of the state, I can say my spirit was with my team members.

The Director of Sports, Mr. Favour Okogwu, also gave comments to Firstlight:
Justice Udo Udoma Chambers is like a family for me. The idea of the Pacesetter Games was to bring pacesetters together to have fun, a healthy competition, get to know each other better, and help rewind and relax after a rigorous academic session. Looking at the pictures we captured, there were a lot of smiles and pacesetters connected with each other on a level that has been prior to this time, not really existent.

Recall that in the previous inter-team competition: the moot and mock trials, Team Kereti emerged victorious, with Team Dominic emerging the runner up. It may seem that Team Dominic is moving steadily towards the Team of the Year position. But will they be able to achieve this feat? Only time will tell.
