The Radiant Ink Fest: Our Shortlisted Entries

The Radiant Ink Fest is a creative writing competition, organised by the Justice Udo Udoma Chambers, via the Directorate of Editorials. The contest ran through the 19th of July, 2023 till the 8th of August, 2023.

The Radiant Ink Fest was open to pacesetters, who were prompted to submit their essays, poems and short stories, presenting their point of view on the theme "Orange".

A week ago, the longlist was announced by the Firstlight team. In the same vein, after proper scrutiny of all the entries by our distinguished panel of judges, a shortlist was also drafted.

Here are the shortlisted entries in no particular order:

  1. Orange, a short story, written by Chioma Amadi.

  1. Orange: A Vivid Expression of Nature's Beauty, an essay, written by Mfoniso Ephraim.

  1. The Ivy Queen, a short story, written by Favour Thompson.

  1. You I Choose, a poem, written by Israel Edet.

  1. Tales From The Orange Tide, a poem, written by Godspower Umoh.

Once again, the Firstlight team heartily congratulates every participant that made the longlist. Every longlisted entry was remarkable, and the battle to determine the top 5 entries was an intense one.

JUUC Firstlight congratulates every writer that made the Top 5. Every shortlisted writer will be entitled to a cash prize of 4000 naira each, and an exclusive feature on the Firstlight Blog.

The winner of the Radiant Ink Fest will be announced at the Pace Awards and Dinner Ceremony, and will be awarded the grand prize of 20,000 naira, amongst other amazing prizes.

The battle isn't over just yet. Who will emerge victorious? See you at The Pace Awards and Dinner.
